View From the Pit 2016 Week 8

We are officially over half way to the playoffs. If you are in the black now – you are well on your way to getting it done and having a shot at the title – remember that the runner up only has to get beat once!

Last week saw a couple of teams  get 34 points the Colts and the Buccs, not making it easy to choose a tune, but here goes

Its time to go disco with this for the Bucs:

Many many songs about horses, I’ll resist the urge to put my lovely horse in here and go with this instead:

Anyway, back to our own action, where are we now?

Fog at Pickaxe

the 4-3 Fog on the Tyne play the 3-4 Nitten Pickaxe at New Victoria Park.

Fog on the Tyne were led in week 7 by a 27.60 point effort from Jay Ajayi. With Ajayi on bye in week 8, they’ll need to count on their second-string RB to carry the team this week. Fog on the Tyne can expect a 17.45 point effort from Derek Carr in week 8.

Nitten Pickaxe were led in week 7 by a 25.20 point effort from Jeremy Hill.

Fog on the Tyne hold a 4-1-0 all-time series record against Nitten Pickaxe.

This is a bit of a grudge match for Gav – just one victory in 5 meets over the last 3 seasons. However, with key players coming back from injury and bye weeks Pickaxe could be up to full strength.

Stuarts Fog are on a wee bit of a roll, with 2 victories and some decent depth with points on the bench too. Jay Ajayi on a bye has to hurt a bit but there are still 3 Rbs ranked in the top 10 to choose from so they should be select and forget for at least 35 between them. WR is a bit more problematic and Stuart will have to select his 2 or 3 carefully. Derek Carr looks to be a good option at QB, a streamer is possible but that would be a bold move, Carr looks set for a solid 20 point game. As ever ,the Gronk is the not so secret weapon here, and may make up for any deficiencies at WR.

Gav will be pleased to have a bit more of a proper starter squad, though fill in players did OK last week, Matt Asiata in particular could be a lucky waiver pick as he seems to be getting plenty of goal line carries, though he couldn’t convert from 2 tries from 3 and 1 yard last week. Dez Bryant is a wee bit unknown, he should be back but there is no guarantee that he will be fully fit – and cutting himself making soup wont have helped – we’ve all done it i guess, but surely a WR’s hands are worth a bit more than mine! Big Ben could be out for a while, a tough decision on whether to drop him, but Matt Ryan should be able to cover the gap – 14 pts last week wasn’t great, but this week should see a bounce back. Finally, big Zeke is back in action, and hoping to continue his run of 100yd games.

Game to watch – apart form the Washington v Bengals match in London (where Stuart currently has no interest, Washington DST maybe?) the other game will be the packers Falcons game, with Matt Ryan and Devonta Freeman both expected to score well, it will be a case of seeing is the Packers can keep up – forcing Ryan to throw.

187’s at Bohemians

the 4-3 Kelso 187’s play the 3-4 Earlstonian Bohemians at Bohemian Park.

Kelso 187’s were led in week 7 by a 30.10 point effort from Melvin Gordon.

Earlstonian Bohemians were led in week 7 by a 22.94 point effort from Kirk Cousins.

Kelso 187’s hold a 1-1-0 all-time series record against Earlstonian Bohemians.

187s and the Bohos are both coming off a disappointing loss and both have some serious bye issues.

187s coach Euan may feel that is is finally time to drop Eli Manning – his bye week and some really sub par performances surely make him a candidate to cut loose. Tough call – but maybe Dak Prescott on the waivers will be a better option? Melvin Gordon and James white will be the likely RBs, not superstars but a healthy 15 points guaranteed. WR should be Crabtree and Benjamin, with another in at flex. There are points to gain in all of the skill positions, but no one here is guaranteed their regulation 10 – so if any of them struggle Euan will need TDs to save the day

Bohemians just could not finish the job, LeGarrette Blount on the Bench will haunt not just Ally but the rest of the league for a while, as it set Jimmy to 7-0 by less than half a point. Its a new week though and Ally has a decent chance against a weakened 187s team. He still has 3 RBs in the top 10 for week 8 despite the loss of LeVeon Bell to a bye – just get over yourself and play Blount – you’ve been down on him since you ‘accidentally’ played him in week 2 for 18 points! Half the league wish they had these problems.,.,Jeffrey and Diggs should get 15- 20 between them so with the RBs we should see Ally well over the regulation for outfield points. Ally needs a DST this week – the question is will he go for that in the waivers or wait till a later 1 buck round, maybe trying to pick up a WR? We’ll find out in the morning.

Game to Watch – it looks like the Pats Bills game will hold most of the attention for these 2, though of course it is possible the Euan’s QB and Ally’s DST will end up playing each other, whoever they are.

Fire at Earthquakes

3-4 Fife Fire, face off against the 0-7 Earlston Earthquakes at The Cauldie.

Fife Fire were led in week 7 by a 24.68 point effort from Drew Brees.

Earlston Earthquakes were led in week 7 by a 17.26 point effort from Alex Smith.

Earthquakes, Earthquakes, Earthquakes – what can you say? Well although a playoff berth may be very hard to reach – Cozy can at least console himself with the fact that he’s been up against the most total points all season – effectively like playing the niners or the Jags all year – that’s tough to swallow, but the team just haven’t performed. The Quakes honour is surely too great to let just let the season go – and that would be a shame as there’s points here for sure – they just have never come in the same week – 15 boom or bust players will do that. We can only hope that the likely starters of Ingram Stewart, Cooper and Sanders perform.

Fire had a decent victory over Pickaxe last week – it was looking shaky until the end of the Sunday early game but the stats won out in the end. There are some bye week problems here, Carlos Hyde and Mike Davis for a start – but Shaun should be able to fill those dropped points with a good WR matchup team this week, DeAndre Hopkins and Doug Baldwin should get over 25 between the pair and the second string RBs will certainly not be left pointless – so expect a reasonable 40 points form the 4 skill position starters, Marvin Jones will likely be in at Flex, and he’s no slouch this week either, Drew Brees comes off the back of a good performance.

Overall, Chris’ Quakes will need some waiver wire magic to win this week – but with nothing to lose, maybe that will free him up to go boom/bust all the way? Whatever, the stats say Fire but does anyone want to see someone go 0-8?

Game to watch- Packers Falcons for Sure – the battle of the DSTs will seal the match

Jaguars at Pirates

the 7-0 Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars, challenge the 5-2 Tweedbank Pirates at Gun Knowe Stadium.

Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars were led in week 7 by a 24.74 point effort from Aaron Rodgers.

Tweedbank Pirates were led in week 7 by a 20.32 point effort from Andy Dalton.

In the 3-year history of this rivalry, Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars hold a 1-3-0 all-time series recordagainst Tweedbank Pirates.

That’s interesting – is this Jimmy’s bogey team? Who knows but certainly the pirates are in with as good a chance as anyone to stop this insane run, well they would be if everyone wasn’t on a bye week – luck or judgement on Jimmy’s part, who can tell?

Jags looks to have a line-up despite some banged up players on the bench – having a full squad doesn’t normally stop Jimmy though so expect some movement on the waivers tomorrow. It wont be Aaron Rogers or AJ Green though – they have their squad places tied up for sure – Maybe a new WR or even a TE – but there’s little left in the cookie jar for Jimmy, (note to everyone else, pick up some players 😉

Paul is not able to put a full squad together as at Tuesday night – he’ll need to find a fit RB to make up the numbers – the waivers are extremely thin on the ground but there could be a deal done on the trades over the next couple of days. Paul’s WR and TE positions are well covered – there will be some TDs amongst the 4 of them for sure- perhaps over 40 points between them – Pirates will need that as they may struggle for 15 at RB. The Viks are on hand to buff up the numbers with their consistent DST performances though – and that could easily save the Pirates this week.

Potentially this is still a high scoring game- despite Paul needing to pick up a 5 point RB. The Pit can see this one going either way – but it is a Pirates win that most every one else wants.

Game to watch its the Washington Cincinnati game in London for sure with action on both sides.

69ers at Tigers

the 4-3 SanFran-Gordon 69ers challenge the 3-4 Tranent Tigers at Polson Park.

SanFran-Gordon 69ers were led in week 7 by a 27.82 point effort from Andrew Luck.

Tranent Tigers were led in week 7 by a 18.18 point effort from Tom Brady.

In the 2-year history of this rivalry, SanFran-Gordon 69ers hold a 1-1-0 all-time series record against Tranent Tigers.

69ers got back on track with a win last week, their points are still up there at the top of the board and the rankings look pretty good again – perhaps time for a new DST on the wire tomorrow – plenty available ranked above the Bills, especially with the Pats on a roll. There could be anywhere from 40-60+ points from Murray, Michael, Jones and Marshall leading the team out at WR and RB though all of them have had weak weeks. Andrew Luck is having a resurgence after a 3 week drought in the first month. There’s articles placing as possible season MVP again, so Richie has to be pleased that he’s stuck with it apart form one miss step putting Carson Palmer in a couple of weeks ago.

Tigers are having some ups and downs, last week was only their 4th opportunity to go over 100 points and they failed to take that chance, benching Devante Adams. Whether he can sustain that kind of form is debatable but leaving him out this week would be a bold decision for Nicky. Antonio Brown and Mike Wallace are on Byes this week leaving not a lot of choice for Nicky unless he goes to the waivers, but there are still players ranked in the top 20 or thereabouts to choose from so its not a disaster.

Tigers have a chance here, but the stats say its slim – unless none of Richie’s outfield players score this should go to the Niners

Game to watch – likely to change – but Nicky’s QB against Richie’s Dst would be the game as it stands, and really you can only see that going one way!

Panthers at Avengers

the 3-4 Pilton Panthers play the 3-4 Kelsae Avengers at Samuel Sawyer Memorial Park.

Pilton Panthers were led in week 7 by a 15.64 point effort from Philip Rivers.

Kelsae Avengers were led in week 7 by a 24.00 point effort from the Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Team.

Panthers don’t have too many bye week worries – but a lot of Rab’s players have really tough matchups this week – non one is playing anyone ranked less than12 at stopping points in their respective positions . Jordy Nelson is perhaps the pick of the bunch ranked WR 13. Gary Barnidge has been a dependable 6 points all season which really is OK for a TE. Mason Crosby is the lone exception with a good match up and likely to get a few opportunities for both extra points and Field goals playing the Falcons.

Avengers are sitting this week with the #1 ranked RB and the #2 ranked WR and TE – Jimmy Graham is still putting 2 fingers up to the draft day naysayers. Coach Stuart has a lot to be thankful for this week, though there are still some tough looking match ups even for the #1 studs in the team. There’s no bye week worries and likely not a lot to waiver for this week – so its fit in Johnson, Murray and Mike Evans, sit back and watch the points roll in

the Pit has to give this one to the Avengers – and it could be a real pumping.

Game to watch – not a lot involving both teams, maybe the chiefs Colts game to see the the Chiefs can stop Jeremy Maclin getting the ball.

Week 8 Waivers and Free Agents

After a (long) hiatus your weekly waivers and free agents column (or wwfac for short) is back!! Woo, I hear you all cry, just in time for London and it’s shit 4G signal in Wembley.  The list below is my top 5ish players at each position (excluding kickers and DST’s….coz you all hoard them). Enjoy and hopefully I’ll make it back from a dodgy Redskins fan night in ol’London town on Saturday night.

Quarterbacks

Dak Prescott– The future is now. Prescott is playing really well and is a solid QB1. Although Tony Romo is due back, he’s made of glass and one hit away from retiring. He’d make an ideal tonic for those owners suffering at QB (ahem Quakes….Bohos and 187s!)

Tyrod Taylor– Welcome back to fantasy relevance Tyrod. Two nice weeks against powder-puff opponents and next week he faces the Patriots. He’ll be a decent streamer with the Pats just average against QBs (16.67fp)

Colin Kaepernick– Two solid showings and a tasty encounter with the Saints D in Week 9…..probably not worth a stash, but could help out in a busy bye week.

Running Backs

Damien Williams– 3 solid weeks of 7 points per game. Sometimes beggars can’t be choosers.

Ka’Deem Carey– John Fox hates rookies. Carey isn’t a rookie so he’ll try and give him as many touches as possible so that he doesn’t have to rely on a rookie. It doesn’t make sense…….it just will be.

Peyton Barber– Jizz Rodgers won’t last at a 25+ carry rate. Barber is next man up and is NO slouch.

Rob Kelley– Producing on limited touches.

Wide Receivers

Cole Beasley– He’s small, white and scoring touchdowns. Dak Prescott loves him…..perhaps he’s worth some of your fantasy love?

Quincy Enunwa– Finally scored after taking a couple of weeks to adjust to increased attention. He’s big, fast and has good hands, SNAP HIM UP!

Cordarrelle Patterson– If you love Tavon Austin but hate his inconsistency…..here’s his bigger, faster and more inconsistent cousin <<buyer beware>>

Darrius Heyward-Bey– The Steelers love big, fast WRs who can’t catch. However, they also like to chuck long bombs at them until they catch them. While their other stone-handed receivers are out, H-Bey is worth a look…..if you squint hard enough Landry Jones might even look like Big Ben.

Dorial Green-Beckham– Seeing more reps and targets, hmmmm

Tight Ends

CJ Fiedorowicz– He’s big, slow, can catch and is starting! What more can you ask for…

Lance Kendricks– The Rams love Kendricks…..he’s not very good unless you’re happy with 5 points production from TE.

Antonio Gates– He’s been a disappointment this season and seen most of his targets move to the Chargers younger, talented WRs. However, don’t be fooled by the Henry hype, Rivers love big Antonio and if you can live with the odd 2 pointer he’ll reward you with the odd 7 pointer 😉

View From the Pit 2016 – week 7

Here we go then – the half way point of the regular season approaches and there’s still all to play for – even for Cozy, though of course he needs an epic run in to the play-offs.

Last week saw both Jimmy and Chris extend their runs – Jimmy is 6 to the good whilst Chris is yet to record a victory

Last week the Bills got a massive 45 points:

We’ll start with the league bookends again as these may have the most interest for everyone.

Bohemians at Jaguars

3-3 Earlstonian Bohemians play the 6-0 Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars at Greendale Stadium.

Earlstonian Bohemians were led in week 6 by a 29.80 point effort from Lamar Miller.

Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars were led in week 6 by a 19.60 point effort from Coby Fleener.

Ally’s Bohos are in with a good shout to finally end Jimmy’s run. Bell, ware, Miller or Blount – pick 3 and forget about it as far as Rbs are concerned – of course one of them will get more Tds than the others and you don’t want him on the bench but whatever – there should be 40 points between them in yards and maybe 3 Tds as well. Jeffrey and Benjamin look a little less stellar at WR but still within the top 20 this week – so expect another 20 pts plus here. All in that is a very healthy outfield. currently, Jimmy has the advantage at Kicker, DST and QB, but Ally has been streaming them all season in any case, so it could all change come the morning

Jimmy is still sitting on top of the pack, last week was a wee blip though – even starting his optimal line-up he didn’t make the magic 95 points – for the sake of the league this has to happen in a week his opponent fires on all cylinders. Could that be the Bohos? This is going to be a high scoring game without a doubt – Jimmy has no one raked outside of the top 20 this week and that means the potential for big scores. Those rankings as ever, are misleading though – as they are based on percentage likelihood of Tds, of course you cannot score 50% of a TD, so there is massive room for error. Jimmy has the advantage at WR for sure – but those Rbs should be more likely to score consistently for ally – its the big plays that will be the game changers here – you’d expect the winner of this match-up to be at 120 or more.

The Pit will have to call it for the Bohos, but there is certainly no guarantee here.

In the 3-year history of this rivalry, Earlstonian Bohemians hold a 2-2-0 all-time series record against Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars.

Game to watch Chiefs Saints for sure – with plenty of action on both teams for both players.

Tigers at Earthquakes

Chris has really not lucked out at all this season, his team are fraying round the edges and just cannot get a break all together in the same week.

2-4 Tranent Tigers face off against the 0-6 Earlston Earthquakes at The Cauldie.

Tranent Tigers were led in week 6 by a 27.24 point effort from Tom Brady. Tranent Tigers can expect a 19.63 point effort from Tom Brady in week 7.

Earlston Earthquakes were led in week 6 by a 20.50 point effort from Jonathan Stewart. With Stewart on bye in week 7, they’ll need to count on their second-string RB to carry the team this week. In addition, Charles Clay was not injured before the start of his week 6 game, and contributed 5.20 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 7 due to an injured ankle.

For The Quakes, Jonathan Stewart was back with a vengeance last week and Amari Cooper is on a bit of a roll too. This team still has potential and it just needs a wee bit of luck to bring it all together at the right time. Of course, with Stewart now on a bye, they will have to dig deep to find a replacement. Expect bids for TE, K and DST in the morning or just after – those often forgotten places on the squad could make or break the Quakes this week. QB is also a streaming option for Chris, but there are only so many waivers and so much money you can spend – at least one of these places will have to wait until the FCFS phase.

Tigers are struggling too – even their potential points are looking like creeping above 100 just 3 times so far. Nicky wants this win as much as Cozy – perhaps more if the Quakes coach has already thrown in the towel? Surely not, there’s pride at stake. Nicky needs Tom Brady to continue his form coming back to the league – but where are the TDs everywhere else? Not a single player broke 10 pts last week for the Tigers, that will need to change for sure if he’s to beat the Quakes. Gostkowski and The Broncos are both ranked #1 this week at Kicker and DST, there’s no shame at all in winning from the less glorious positions, and both of these could really add some teeth to the Tigers bite.

The Pit has to see this as the turning point for Chris – its a win for the Quakes for sure.

In the 2-year history of this rivalry, Tranent Tigers hold a 0-2-0 all-time series record against Earlston Earthquakes.

Game to watch: We are all over the place with this one, but I’d suggest that the Pats Steelers is the game to watch – with Big Ben out for the Steelers, Tom Brady is likely to get all the chances in the world to make scoring drives – Chris really needs the pair of these to be under 30 between them to have any chance at all.

Pickaxe at Fire

3-3 Nitten Pickaxe, who hope to end their 3 game losing streak, play the 2-4 Fife Fire at Balbirnie Stadium.

Nitten Pickaxe were led in week 6 by a 23.50 point effort from Brandin Cooks. In addition, Ben Roethlisberger was not injured before the start of his week 6 game, and contributed 9.56 points, but he’s listed as out in week 7 due to an injured knee.

Fife Fire were led in week 6 by a 32.60 point effort from Drew Brees. In addition, Carlos Hyde was not injured before the start of his week 6 game, and contributed 5.20 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 7 due to an injured shoulder.

Fire have picked the best week to take on the Pickaxe, with 3 of Gav’s studs on a bye, not that Dez Bryant was back anyway. Big Ben Roethlisberger is out for at least a few weeks by the sounds of it too – so it could be a bit of a struggle for the Pickaxe. There is hope though at both ends of the squad – QB and DST are both highly ranked for the week – Matt Ryan confounded his critics in the last 2 weeks, having had what many considered an easy start to the season – he’s come through that phase with ease and now faces a less than perfect Chargers DST. Elsewhere in the squad, Golden Tate may finally be living up to the promise, and Brandin Cooks seems back to winning ways – but will that be enough to prop up a really struggling set of RBs? Jeremy Hill just hasn’t been cutting it so far so unless something happens to the Bengals Giovani Bernard it could be a struggle to get 15 points between both RBs, Gav needs a sneaky poached TD.

Fire have the Firepower, Carlos Hyde and Marvin Jones perhaps the stars this week – but neither of them is top 10, so there is work to do here. Shaun is still to pick up a DST, but there should be something available that will guarantee 5 points, anything else will be a bonus. Delanie Walker and Drew Brees should be the heart of the team, there’s plenty of opportunity for Brees to get a decent score over 20 this week against the Chiefs, however to do that he’ll have to avoid interceptions, so expect lots of 15 yard plays, if Brees is forced to go longer, the chiefs are more than capable of stopping that dead, of course Brees shouldn’t do as badly as Fitzpatrick’s 6 interceptions a couple of weeks ago. Consistency has been the problem for Fire since week 1 – the yards are just about there, but the TDs just haven’t been coming, that has to change sometime though…

This could be a low scoring game – its not impossible that both QBs will score as much as the rest of their teams put together – but that’s not too likely, between the 12 outfield players there must be 3 of 4 TDs, it could balance out of course, but more likely someone will have a luckier week – Given Gav’s run of 3 duff weeks the Pit has to go with the Pickaxe.

Game to watch – Washington Detroit for sure – If Golden Tate can go on from his good form last week this game is going Gav’s way – if not then Shaun has it – a tense Sunday evening for both then.

69ers at Panthers

3-3 SanFran-Gordon 69ers challenge the 3-3 Pilton Panthers at Pilton Park.

SanFran-Gordon 69ers were led in week 6 by a 20.30 point effort from Christine Michael. In addition, Carson Palmer was not injured before the start of his week 6 game, and contributed 12.42 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 7 due to an injured hamstring.

Pilton Panthers were led in week 6 by a 32.20 point effort from LeSean McCoy,

In the 3-year history of this rivalry, SanFran-Gordon 69ers hold a 5-0-0 all-time series record against Pilton Panthers.

69ers Coach Richie has been pretty full of the joys when talking up his chances this week – no wonder though – he’s pretty much tied for top score over the first 6 weeks, and must be pretty mad to be just 3-3. consistency has been good for the niners all season, most weeks have had the possibility of over 100 points, and really you cannot argue with that. Poor decisions at starters can always hurt you though – and last week there were nearly 40 points left on the bench. This week sees the entire squad ranked #22 or below at respective positions – which of course leaves yet more dilemmas of who to start and who to bench – there’s guaranteed to be points left out this time around – but will there be enough in the starters. Demarco Murray and Christine Michael should be guaranteed a place and will repay that with some 200 yds and a TD between them for sure. Julio Jones should be well above 8 pots too – any TDs will be a bonus to his regulation 10 scored.

The Panthers have a wee mini streak going – Rab is doing his homework this season for sure, and bolstering an already stable team. As every year – Pip Rivers has been up and down – this week against the Falcons could be another shoot out and that works to Rab’s advantage, expect 20 pts or thereabouts for Rivers. Lesean McCoy has barely dropped below 15 points all season , there’s no reason for that top stop this week. Jordy Nelson has been less effective despite his top billing, but he’s due a decent match and no reason it couldn’t be against the Bears. Rab has the Chiefs as mentioned in the previous match-up – I’d suspect that any points they get are going to be for interceptions and sacks, rather than points blocked – you cannot see the Saints going less than 20 points.

Rab will score points for sure, but the stats say this is another week for Richie. Assuming he picks the right starters.

Game to Watch – Maybe Chargers Falcons – Pip Rivers and Julio Jones on opposite sides should be the big scorers of the week – if this match is one sided then it could seal the deal one way or the other,. Expect both coaches to be up till midnight to check on those scores.

187’s at Fog

4-2 Kelso 187’s face off against the 3-3 Fog on the Tyne at New St James Park.

Kelso 187’s were led in week 6 by a 33.20 point effort from Odell Beckham.

Fog on the Tyne were led in week 6 by a 32.70 point effort from Jay Ajayi.

In the 2-year history of this rivalry, Kelso 187’s hold a 1-1-0 all-time series record against Fog on the Tyne.

187s have the dubious honour of having the worst average score of the 4 divisional leaders. No shame in that for sure but it does maybe show that there is work to do in getting this team up to speed. They’ve struggled to get their 100 points consistently, and the cracks need to be filled quickly – James White looks like a good pick-up though – Coach Gav cursing dropping him week 4 – Can the Patriots continue to provide 10 points plus to 4 outfield players? Melvin Gordon and Odell Beckham should be the heart of the scoring this week, and will likely get 30 points on the card between them White could add a few more – but expect him to be very up and down over the rest of the season, still worth a start though? Eli Manning is certainly not the top flight QB that Euan wants- but he should still be capable of 15- 20 points. So, all in there are 95 points plus on offer for the 187s this week.

Fog have also struggled, not least thanks to Derek Carr’s ups and downs. Devonta Freeman and Rob Gronkowski should put up some decent numbers in week 7, the Gronk is back to being consistently ranked #1 which will be a relief for coach Stuart. Its WR where The fog could struggle – with none of Stuarts ranked as high as Beckham or Crabtree on the 187s roster. RBs offer a more consistent point font though – and Fog will need all of his to be producing. Perhaps a choice at Flex, and I wouldn’t like to say which of Forte Johnson or Rogers should go in flex for Fog, maybe Forte will get options with Geno Smith taking over as Jets QB, or will he want to stake his claim by throwing all day?

All in the 187s have the advantage in this match up – their RBs are only just outranked by the Fog, and the WR should outscore the fog by 10 points.

Game to watch – there doesn’t seem to be any one game that stands out – maybe the Raiders Jags Game, but there could be points for both teams there, or none of course.

Pirates at Avengers

4-2 Tweedbank Pirates play the 3-3 Kelsae Avengers at Samuel Sawyer Memorial Park.

Tweedbank Pirates were led in week 6 by a 28.20 point effort from Matthew Stafford. In addition, Randall Cobb was not injured before the start of his week 6 game, and contributed 11.30 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 7 due to an injured back.

Kelsae Avengers were led in week 6 by a 31.80 point effort from David Johnson. In addition, Jordan Matthews was not injured before the start of his week 6 game, and contributed7.50 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 7 due to an injured knee.

Last but not least this week, 2 teams riding high for different reasons after 6 weeks

Pirates are well in the black going 4 -2 – a loss last week due to a severe lack of TDs and just some bad luck. #Matt Stafford and Travis Kelce are both highly ranked this week and should see off the opposite numbers with ease, for the other skill positions it really is too close to call. Gurley and Hilton should be getting a TD between them, and you would put money on another one for at least 1 of RB2, WR2 and flex, but of course that can be blown away – yardage alone has not been enough to sustain this Pirates team who need those TDs to come every week – I’d say 2 for Stafford and 4 for the outfield would be enough to seal this for the Pirates.

On the other side – Avengers have reversed their poor start and are riding high on a 3 win streak to come back to all square – a play-off spot well within their grasp now. David Johnson and Mike Evans are surely the stars this week for the Avengers, the rest of the team making up the number but providing more than ample back up. Jimmy Graham is still proving perhaps the pick of the draft. Cam Newton and Alfred Morris on a bye is a bit of a pain for Stuart of course, but Marcus Mariota is all over the QB streamers lists – so shouldn’t see more than a tiny dent in the average QB score – he’s not rated as high as Stafford of course, but should be within 4 pts.

All in all, this looks close – The Avengers have it on the pure numbers- but the upside to the Pirates team is undeniable. The pit always goes with the stats though – so a win for Stuart.

Game to watch – maybe one of the DST games – as that could decide this fixture for sure – more likely Paul’s Vikings, as that is a bit more civilised than waiting up till 4 for the Seahawks

View From the Pit 2016 – Week 6

Week 6 already – nearly half way to those playoff spots. One team is just so close to sealing a spot, and another close behind. The Earthquakes yet to start – but there is still time, it has to be a monster streak from her on in though.

Oakland Raiders topped the pile this week – and though there’s about a million hip hop tracks with Oakland in the lyrics, I’ve heard of exactly none of them, sorry. We’ll go back to the rock this week with this.

You’ll have to carry me / Back from Cali / I’m tired and broken and I lost my way… quite appropriate for how the chargers are feeling I guess.

Back to the action:

Fire at  Jaguars

The 2-3 Fife Fire challenge the 5-0 Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars at Greendale Stadium. Fife Fire were led in week 5 by a 20.20 point effort from Theo Riddick, Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars were led in week 5 by a 22.30 point effort from Jordan Howard.

The Jags rumble on and the rest of the league gnashes it’s teeth once more. Euan’s 187s failed to capitalise on Jimmy’s big bye week and so its now down to the other Guthrie to try his luck. There’s a trade pending here and expect some changes on the waivers of course, but as of Tuesday night this looks like it could be a close game.

Shaun needs a kicker for the Fire – but that won’t be a problem for a couple of bucks or maybe even just wait till the open season after 10.00. Drew Brees, Carlos Hyde and Delanie Walker will surely be the Main fuel for the fire this week, the rest of the team not to shabby either. The biggest question this week is will Shaun regret giving up Aaron Rogers to Jimmy, he’ll surely get the starting positions and that could boost Jimmy’s QB score by 10 pts or even more. Marvin Jones will be given up by the Jags, and would get a start for Fire, but he’s only Jimmy’s third ranked WR this week.

All in an intriguing prospect to watch players that you just gave up pummelling you into the dust – could that happen for either of these guys? Will it be business as usual for the Jags?

A quick look at the stats shows that so far this season Jimmy has been very good at picking the ideal team each week, even when shuffling around a whole heap of players week to week. There’s been trades aplenty too. So what is the weakness? Its just a wee bit of luck, there’s been some under performances, but they’ve so far been compensated by someone else on the team. Jimmy has the top score in the league overall but only once has the top of the week – this week 7 other teams would have beaten him – so there’s no need to lose hope!

Game to watch – no idea – the teams will look completely different tomorrow

Earthquakes at 187’s

The 0-5 Earlston Earthquakes, who hope to end their 4 game losing streak, challenge the 3-2 Kelso 187’s at Compton Palace. Earlston Earthquakes were led in week 5 by a 21.80 point effort from Amari Cooper. Kelso 187’s were led in week 5 by a 13.70 point effort from Melvin Gordon.

At the other end of the tables, Cozy’s Earthquakes are yet to get off the ground. It must be pretty frustrating – so is there any hope? Yes is the answer to that. Sammy Coates is yet to get a start for the Quakes, but he’s all over the waiver news this week after a monster week – FFS Chris, put him in for a start! Though Cooper, Sanders and Shepard might be contenders for a place too. Cozy has a much bigger problem at RB, where he has a bye week nightmare, and he needs a fill in TE too. That’s 3 weeks in a row that the Quakes potential pts were over 100 too – so picking the right starters perhaps needs a bit more thought – of course it could be over thinking it that is the problem anyway.

All in, there are some Tds in this team every week – even this big bye week 6.

However, the 187s will be out for blood, having failed to take the Jags down a peg or 2. Euan’s WR cohort look pretty strong still and the RB team is sure to get at least 150 yds between them. With any luck there will be 3 Tds in the outfield positions, leading to a comfortable 90 – 110 pts depending on Tds. Dak Prescott is steadily improving, even without Dez Bryant to throw to, Zeke Elliot and and awesome oline making life perhaps easier for the Rookie, but he’s looking like a good pick-up and may cause Euan a headache as to which QB to start; Eli Manning seems on a downward spiral of the same order as Prescott’s and Elliot’s upward one, but surely he still has a big game in him.

This one is a tough week for Cozy, the numbers add up to 187 on paper, but there is a chance for the Quakes too. Beckham and Benjamin will decide it – if they can be kept to yards only then the quakes have a chance – if not its looking like 0-6.

Game to watch – nothing too much across the 2 teams, but maybe the Ravens at Giants where Chris really needs Joe Flacco to lead the Ravens to victory in the air and for the DST to stop Odell Beckham. In the 2-year history of this, Earlston Earthquakes hold a 1-1-0 all-time series record against Kelso 187’s.

Panthers at Pirates

The 2-3 Pilton Panthers challenge the 4-1 Tweedbank Pirates at Gun Knowe Stadium. Pilton Panthers were led in week 5 by a 26.36 point effort from Philip Rivers, Pilton Panthers can expect a 16.44 point effort from Philip Rivers in week 6, Tweedbank Pirates were led in week 5 by a 23.10 point effort from T.Y. Hilton.

In the 3-year history of this, Pilton Panthers hold a 2-1-0 all-time series record against Tweedbank Pirates.

Pirates take a 4-1 record into this game thanks to a convincing win over Pickaxe last week. Panthers are just on the wrong side after 5 games and will be itching for another win to lift them off the bottom of Shatner division.

Panther’s LeSean McCoy is the heart of this team – with the most consistent scoring so far this season, and there’s no reason for that consistency to stop this week. Jordy Nelson has been pushing the regulation 10 per week too – with a TD or 2 he could easily have a stand out game for Rab. Justin Forsett is still sitting on Rab’s bench so that’s someone easy to drop for a new player in the morning, but is there anyone there? Crystal balls into action as we maybe need to look a couple of weeks to try and find someone who might breakout.

For the Pirates the duo of Larry Fitzgerald and T.Y Hilton sealed the deal last week, with a couple of TDs apiece. That can’t continue every week, but expect at least 2 between them and somewhere around 140 yds – giving a very respectable 26 pts for the WR pair. At RB Todd Gurley and CJ Anderson should have similar success, perhaps with a bit more yardage between them. Travis Kelce looks a safe pair of hands after his bye week, so its only DST where Paul needs some attention with the Viks on a bye – dropping them could be dangerous as there’s plenty of folk in the league who would pick them up next week..

all in the Pit has to see this going the Pirates way

Game to watch – Got to be the Rams Lions Game at 6.00 Sunday – Rab’s DST vs Pauls QB will decide this match – I’d say that Rab needs 12 pts from the Rab’s and less than 18 for Stafford to have a chance in this game.

Pickaxe at Bohemians

The 3-2 Nitten Pickaxe face off against the 2-3 Earlstonian Bohemians at Bohemian Park. Nitten Pickaxe were led in week 5 by a 30.20 point effort from Ben Roethlisberger. Earlstonian Bohemians were led in week 5 by a 24.70 point effort from Martellus Bennett, In the 3-year history of this, Nitten Pickaxe hold a 2-5-0 all-time series record against Earlstonian Bohemians.

Pickaxe have come back to Earth with a bump after going 3 – 0 – though the good news is that they are still making regulation winning scores at over 95. The biggest problem is a couple of injuries that have devastated the team – first Bryant and now Charles Sims have put some deep holes in the Pickaxe roster. Bryant might be back this week, but there is no guarantee, and the much vaunted début of Kenneth Dixon did not exactly set the world on fire. Thank whatever for Big Ben and Zeke then – without them the Pickaxe would be well and truly blunted. No Bye week worries for Gav this week, Tampa on a bye, but Charles Sims is off to IR in any case, so he can pick from everyone. Greg Olsen is the other lynch pin in this team, but its everywhere else that really needs a bit of lucky red zone touches to get the Pickaxe swinging.

Bohemians have the dubious honour of not having a QB score over 20 yet this season, thanks not least to picking the ‘wrong’ QB to start 4 weeks in a row. Leveon Bell has proved his worth for his first 2 weeks though and Lamar Miller is surely due a game over 15 pts too. The Boho’s Scoring history page may actually be longer than Jimmy’s so far – it must be close with Ally streaming Dsts and TEs that is set to continue – expect changes there tomorrow again. Ally went RB heavy, but with Bryant not guaranteed by any means the Boho’s are still pretty much a match for the Pickaxe at WR.

This game looks interesting, but its going to Pickaxe for sure.

Game to watch Cowboys Packers for Zeke Elliot and the Packers DST for Gav and Ally respectively (assuming Ally isn’t streaming this week)

Fog  at Tigers

The 2-3 Fog on the Tyne play the 2-3 Tranent Tigers at Polson Park. Fog on the Tyne were led in week 5 by a 21.98 point effort from Derek Carr, Tranent Tigers were led in week 5 by a 29.64 point effort from Tom Brady, In the 2-year history of this, Fog on the Tyne hold a 2-1-0 all-time series record against Tranent Tigers.

Both these teams have perhaps not had the wind at their back so far – Fog with the second lowest pts for and the third highest points against and Tigers slightly in deficit on total points too.

Jacquizz Rogers looks like a great Free agency pick-up for Stuart this week, unfortunately he is on a bye so he may have been a 1 week wonder if Doug Martin returns next week. No matter though Devonta Freeman and Matt Forte should be able to keep a decent showing at RB for the fog – expect 25-30 pts between them. WR is a little more complicated for Fog and there will be some choices to make, Edelmann and Hurns have the best rankings, but perhaps not the best chances to steal a redzone catch for a TD.

Tigers have Tom Brady back in the fold once again, and he spent little time proving why he is an elite QB, expect a good 20 pts plus form him this week against the Bengals. Nicky has Antonio brown and Demaryius Thomas to thank for keeping his score respectable last week too – its RB that was a bit of a let-down and that could continue this week. Gostkowski and the Broncos could make all the difference this week for Nicky, they are both ranked much higher than Stuarts equivalents.

The pit prediction is a win for the Tigers – Brady should see them through if nothing else.

Game to watch Jags Bears and Pats Bengals will decide this game – with action on both sides for both games

Avengers at 69ers

The 2-3 Kelsae Avengers play the 3-2 SanFran-Gordon 69ers at Castle Greyskull. Kelsae Avengers were led in week 5 by a 30.52 point effort from Marcus Mariota. SanFran-Gordon 69ers were led in week 5 by a 22.18 point effort from Andrew Luck. Last but not least –

Avengers seem to be on the up in 2 weeks of growing points totals and 2 wins, is this a start of a decent streak for Stuart? 69Ers have been cruising to victory for 3 weeks though and could be a step to far for the Kelsae crew. Marcus Mariota was an ample fill in for Cam Newton this week and would be a fairly safe start should Cam not pass the concussion protocol this week. They both have games at 6 Sunday, so there should be no issues making the decision even up to the last minute. Elsewhere David Johnson surely guaranteed a start and Jimmy Graham too (note to Stuart, if I were you I’d be making a bit more of the fact we all scoffed when you picked him up in the draft – he seems back in a big way). After these guys though the rankings don’t look to great, perhaps the Hawks DST will come and save the Avengers?

For Richie, its business as usual. Those first 2 weeks are a distant memory and the niners are riding high on a 3 game streak. There’s a team available here with no one ranked outside the top 15 according to Fantasy pros – that may be a first – rankings don’t guarantee points of course, but can we really see less than 2 TDs from Murray, Michael, Jones and Marshall this week? Another one between TE and Flex should put the niners well over 100.

This should be the highest scoring match up of the week – which is actually good news for everyone else of course, as one of these teams has to lose – and its likely they will have scored over 100 when they do – always a kick in the teeth.

The smart money is on the Niners, but it is really something like 2 TDs in it – so if Stuart has a lucky week….

Game to watch – Seahawks at Falcons – this could be a shoot out game anyway – but there’s interest on both sides, If Matt Ryan can get past the Seahawks secondary – then Richie is cruising, if not this is Stuarts week.

View From The Pit 2016 – week 5

Week 5 already, we are now a loooong way into the season, and its a bit of a struggle from here on if you are in debit with your wins/losses – especially those on 0-4. there’s still time though, and match ups are key – we can see that Jimmy on 4- 0 has the 4th lowest points score against him whilst Cozy on 0-4 has the highest against him – so its not all in your own hands by any means, and the season ain’t over. The streak is over for Pirates and Pickaxe, so they will be wanting to get back to winning ways.

With the Jags in the lead though – the other 10 teams in the league will have at least half an eye on whoever is playing Jimmy – this week its Euan and his 187’s – what can they do to stop the Jerman Juggernaut?

Week 4 saw the Falcons score big again, but We’ve had them so lets go with the Steeler’s who scored the second highest this week. There’s been a wee bit of talk on the chat today about Hip Hop legends, I raise your Kanye talk and give you: Le’Veon Bell

Jaguars at 187s

4-0 Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars, who hope to extend their 4 game winning streak, face off against the 3-1 Kelso 187’s at Compton Palace.

Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars were led in week 4 by a 25.88 point effort from Blake Bortles, With Bortles on bye in week 5, they’ll need to count on their second-string QB to carry the team this week. Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars can expect a 17.80 point effort from Carson Wentz in week 5.

Kelso 187’s were led in week 4 by a 18.90 point effort from Melvin Gordon. In addition, Dan Bailey was not injured before the start of his week 4 game, and contributed 6.00points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 5 due to an injured back.

Euan, whether by luck or judgement, has managed to land playing Jimmy on a huge bye week problem for the Jags – Jimmy has to cope with 4 players unavailable this week – though as of Tuesday night he is still able to field a team. Expect some changes though as Jimmy just cant seem to leave well alone – streaming kickers and TEs. Its been working as so far the Jags have only left 25 pts on the bench over 4 weeks. That’s closer to 55 for Euan so there’s some work to do to pick the perfect line-up.

For Euan, Melvin Gordon is the heart of the team – scoring consistently into the teens, this week looks good too where he’s ranked 6th overall of RBs. Odell Beckham and Kelvin Benjamin have not been nearly as consistent – including a zero point game for Benjamin in week 3 – however they are both ranked well into the top 10, and we should see 25 pts between them this week.

Jimmy’s Jordan Howard and Frank Gore are both coming off the back of decent games, and though their scoring is erratic, there should be at least 1 TD between them and 20 pts. AJ Green Season so far is bookended by two massive games in week 1 and 4, but not a lot in between at all – boom or bust seems to be the way for him, and at Dallas there are possibilities.

This game has every chance to be the first defeat for the Jags, but it is by no means guaranteed. The Pit is going with the odds and the will of the league though and a win for the 187s.

Game to watch – there’s not a lot of crossover action in this match up but the Bengals  Cowboys has to be the one to watch – as we all know a good defense can win the games, but in this case too many turnovers for Euan’s Bengals will give Jimmy’s Eifert and Green more chances to score – Euan will be hoping for a big early lead on the ground by the Bengals and then running down the clock after turnovers.

Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars hold a 0-2-0 all-time series record against Kelso 187’s.

Panthers at Earthquakes

1-3 Pilton Panthers play the 0-4 Earlston Earthquakes at The Cauldie.

Pilton Panthers were led in week 4 by a 18.84 point effort from Philip Rivers.

Earlston Earthquakes were led in week 4 by a 23.02 point effort from Joe Flacco.

The Quakes have yet to post over 100 pts, and have not had the luck with many TDs. There is definitely some home in this team though, with almost all players rated ion the top 20 this week ,and those that aren’t, Sterling Shepard and Matt Asiata, have decent chances of snatching a TD or 2. Cozy needs a kicker this week, but there’s plenty of options to stream someone there, pick wisely and that 8 pts in the bag. Joe Flacco is coming off a better week and this weeks match against Washington should give him a chance at 25 pts, but there may be a QB on the waivers who looks better, so don’t be surprised tomorrow morning if that happens.

For Rab’s Panthers its just not come good at the right time yet, in week 3 they had the chance of a massive 173 pts, but the other weeks have struggled to top 80-100. If the timing is with you a boom and bust team will take you all the way to the championship, but Rab needs to get his timing a bit better for that to happen. LeSean McCoy is the lone consistent in this team and there’s no reason to suspect him getting any less than 15 pts this week. Jordy Nelson and Jarvis Landry should also be looking to post 25 between them.

The numbers say Panthers, but it is surely time for a bit of luck in the Earthquakes corner? I’m not sure I’d go as far as picking the Quakes, but it could be a nail-biter come Monday night

Games to watch – its another Vikings game for Cozy, he really has to hope for a win for the Vikings at home to the Texans, he needs them to be grinding out on the ground – so a lead but not too much of a lead! For Rab perhaps the Washington Baltimore Game where he has action on both sides – perhaps even hoping for a lead for the Ravens, to encourage some deep throws for DeSean Jackson?

Pilton Panthers hold a 2-1-0 all-time series record against Earlston Earthquakes.

Pirates at Pickaxe

3-1 Tweedbank Pirates challenge the 3-1 Nitten Pickaxe at New Victoria Park.

Tweedbank Pirates were led in week 4 by a 11.20 point effort from C.J. Anderson.

Nitten Pickaxe were led in week 4 by a 33.90 point effort from Ben Roethlisberger. In addition, Charles Simswas not injured before the start of his week 4 game, and contributed 2.50 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 5 due to an injured knee. Nitten Pickaxe can expect a 19.98 point effort from Ben Roethlisberger in week 5.

One of these teams will be 4 to the good come Tuesday morning, and could of course be overall leader if the so far unstoppable Jaguars get beat. Who will it be though.

Paul’s Pirates have done well so far, but have also faced the second lowest total score against – so perhaps have been riding their luck a little. On paper though this team looks fully capable – two top ten RBs and 3 top 30 WRs should usually be enough to get you past the winning post – consistency is important though and the big scores have mainly come from TDs not yards, which is always a worry. However, Anderson, Gurley and Hilton, as surely the three guaranteed starters for the Pirates this week can at least hope for 2 tds between them and a couple of hundred yards. The other 2 outfield players leave a bit bore of a dilemma and gamble, do you go for someone with a likely couple of red zone touches or an every down short yardage back – the choice is yours Paul.

For Gav, the dilemma may be deciding which of last weeks top 2 QBs to play – holding 2 on the books is always a pain, and calls for QB flex will be just about heard down their in Earlston. The Injury to Dez Bryant has put a big dent in the WR standing s for the Pickaxe, and though there is talk of him playing this week , that would be a massive Gamble for the Pickaxe. Fortunately Zeke Elliot seems to have got  a bit more into his rookie stride and Greg Olsen seems to have secured a key place in the Panthers Offence, even if he has to wait for the backup QB to prove it. another injury Dilemma is the expected début of Kenneth Dixon for the Ravens, will he be straight into the number one slot or is it more likely that he’ll get a few trial snaps first week in? Even then, if they are red zone touches it could be 10 pts in the bag – a tough decision but one that can wait till Sunday evening.

This one is going to be a mid scoring tussle, It may have to wait till Monday night with Charles Simms for the Buccs.

Game to watch – it may be that Buccs Panthers game on Monday night – but for the more family and work friendly audience it could be either of the defensive games – both the Vikings and the Patriots DSTs have the opportunity to win this for Paul or Gav.

Tweedbank Pirates hold a
1-2-0 all-time series record against Nitten Pickaxe.

Fog at 69ers

2-2 Fog on the Tyne play the 2-2 SanFran-Gordon 69ers at Castle Greyskull.

Fog on the Tyne were led in week 4 by a 23.76 point effort from Derek Carr. Fog on the Tyne can expect a 17.96 point effort from Derek Carr in week 5.

SanFran-Gordon 69ers were led in week 4 by a 36.00 point effort from Julio Jones.

I the even Steven mid table tussle – one of these teams will be into the black and one in the red – neither would be a season defining result – but of course its still all to play for.

Fog are the luckiest of these 2 teams, with a deficit of over 50 pts they’ve still been able to scrape to 2-2. On the other hand  69ers have put up the second highest total and have the same WLT record – life just isn’t fair eh lads? Coming off a huge 150 pt score though – Richie must be confident, his potential pts have not dipped below the magic 95 so far this season. Demarco Murray, Eddie Lacy, Julio Jones and Brandon Marshall have all got 2 TDs a game in them if the wind blow the right way and that’s just about what happened last week – surely that cant happen again, but really 4 TDs between them and Richie’s other 2 outfield players has got to be just about a certainty.

Stuart really has his work cut out, though they are no slouches on his team ,they consistently come out 2 or 3 pts under the equivalent players for the niners. The points are not coming for the Gronk either – over the last few seasons he’s been a shoe in for 10 pts a week – but so far he’s got just over 1 pt for the season – maybe his time is over? but it would be a brave coach to waiver the Gronk – as there’s not a lot else at TE on the wire. Devonta Freeman looks like he is coming in to a bit of a run of form though – if he can match his streak form last year Stuart is sitting pretty, but no guarantees of that at this stage.

All in all, the numbers say Richie all the way – and I’m not going to argue with that.

Game to watch, not a lot happening for both teams at the same time but maybe the Jets Steelers game is the one to watch

 Fog on the Tyne hold a 4-1-0 all-time series recordagainst SanFran-Gordon 69ers.

Tigers at Bohemians

2-2 Tranent Tigers play the 1-3 Earlstonian Bohemians at Bohemian Park.

Tranent Tigers were led in week 4 by a 20.20 point effort from Isaiah Crowell. Tranent Tigers can expect a 22.81 point effort from Tom Brady in week 5.

Earlstonian Bohemians were led in week 4 by a 17.80 point effort from Le’Veon Bell.In addition,Eric Ebron was not injured before the start of his week 4 game, and contributed 4.20 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 5 due to an injured knee.

Tom Brady is back in – surely he’s a must start for the Tigers, but who knows, Jameis Winston has had 2 off and 2 on weekends so far – but he’s not been dropped as of Wednesday, so anything is still possible for Nicky. Nicky has a bit of a bye week problem elsewhere in the team with TJ Yeldon and Julius Thomas having a rest this week, and Jeremy Langford is still out with his ankle. There’s still a team to be had for the Tigers and they will be no pushover for Ally’s Bohos, Antonio Brown and Demaryius Thomas are still at the heart of the team, and anywhere form 25 to 40 points is possible form the pair of them. Expect at least a touchdown from the second string RBs and flex too and with a fit Brady we are looking at reaching the magic 95 pts on all but a very unlucky weekend.

Ally has some bye week woes as well, Russell Wilson being the biggest loss this week. Kirk Cousins steps up to the QB role, and he has been pushing close to 20 for the past 3 weeks so there’s hope there. Leveon Bell was back in action last week and showed why is still a round 1 pick, even suspended for 4 games, expect a good 15 -20 pots there. Alshon Jeffrey and Stefon Diggs, whist not stellar WR, could certainly hope for 15 points of yardage and maybe a TD between them – which again is going to put the Bohos looking straight at the 95 pt mark too.

This one will come down to small yardage or extra TDs, and the stats say that’s only slightly more likely on the Tigers side.

Game to watch – Pats vs Browns is the Game to watch here – a very likely Pats win, but LeGarrette Blount could really benefit if Brady is a bit rusty or even if they take an early lead. Nicky has to hope that the Browns can take it to the Pats and force Brady to play big – I can’t see that happening myself, but maybe he’ll have a point to prove anyway?

Tranent Tigers hold a 0-2-0 all-time series recordagainst Earlstonian Bohemians.

Avengers at Fire

1-3 Kelsae Avengers play the 2-2 Fife Fire at Balbirnie Stadium.

Kelsae Avengers were led in week 4 by a 19.80 point effort from Matt Jones Cam Newton was not injured before the start of his week 4 game, and contributed 15.60 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 5 due to a concussion .

Fife Fire were led in week 4 by a 13.90 point effort from Carlos Hyde, Fife Fire can expect a 20.62 point effort from Aaron Rodgers in week 5.

Avengers have so far struggled with both a lack of TDs and a bit of poor line-up. choice, but that could all change this weekend. David Johnson and Mike Evans look to have RB 1 and WR1 sewn up, and rightly so they are both well in the top 5 at their respective positions this week. The major worry is Cam Newton, he has an extra day to recover before MNF, and Stuart may is able to wait for that decision as he’s picked up backup Derek Anderson, if its a game time decision though that will be a sleepless night for the Avenger’s coach.

On the Fire side Aaron Rogers will be locked in, he’s QB1 this week and should clock well over 20 pts. Coach Shaun has lost a good couple of WR in Doug Baldwin and Willie Snead to bye weeks, but again there’s still a team to be made here with 4 key skill payers all come in ranked under 25 and should put up 30o yards plus maybe 2 TDs between them. There’s been a lack of consistency all round the Fire team so far this season, but Carlos Hyde is surely the safest pair of hands on the Fire Roster and this week again could be the star of the show.

The numbers say Avengers, but they’ve said that most weeks – however it just can’t stay TD dry forever in the avengers camp and the Pit is going with them this week.

Game to watch- got to be Buccs Panthers – this could result in high scores for both teams, assuming Cam is fit – if not then Derek Anderson will have his work cut out which could also put the pressure on Shaun’s DST.
