Here we are week 10, Armistice day over here, Veterans day on the other side of the Pond. There’s a whole load of politics that’s a bit too much for this blog, and this is one of those issues – better folk than me can go into it.
Just for a change here’s a couple of relevant tunes this week – the first an old one and the second a bit more up to date and angry.
Apologies for that diversion, back to the ball game
Fire at Bohemians
5-4 Fife Fire face off against the 4-5 Earlstonian Bohemians at Bohemian Park.
This is the first game between these two franchises in 2015. Ally’s beloved Jets DST gets things off on Thursday night, with both teams waiting on Bengals to finish the job Monday. Fire have slowed a bit after a blistering start to the season and coach Shaun has had a couple of weeks to fil the big boots of Leveon Bell now – so we’lll see if he’s got some more fuel for the fire – the numbers say maybe, but Bohemians look likely to be high scoring this week too. Fire’s Broncos DST are the number 1 ranked this week, and that could put some high numbers down the bottom of the score sheet – Shaun could be bottom heavy all the way as his Kicker and Flex look to have the better of the Boho equivalents. Ally looks to the top side for his points with a stellar looking RB team this week and top pick up gary Barnstormer at TE. All in all this has the potential for a high scoring game – which makes the predictions harder, but I’m going with the Bohemians on this occasion.
Jaguars at Earthquakes
5-4 Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars face off against the 5-4 Earlston Earthquakes at The Cauldie.
Jaguars were led in week 9 by a 17.86 point effort from Tom Brady. Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars can expect a 22.94 point effort from Tom Brady in week 10.
Earthquakes were led in week 9 by a 26.34 point effort from Derek Carr. Allen Hurns was not injured before the start of his week 9 game, and contributed 18.20 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 10 due to an injured foot , which might severely limit his fantasy production. Earlston Earthquakes can expect a 16.01 point effort from DeMarco Murray in week 10.
In the 2-year history of this rivalry, Jimmy’s Jerman Jaguars hold a 2-2-0 all-time series record against Earlston Earthquakes. Earthquakes are on some roll, 5 wins on the bounce has to ease the early season pain somewhat for Cozy. Jags on the other hand are a wee bit up and down, with the overall highest points for and 3 of the highest weekly scores, but also a few weeks where they’ve failed to reach 70. Jimmy has action on Thursday with Eric Decker and waits til; Monday to seal the deal with Jeremy Hill. Cozy is going to get it all done on Sunday. Tom Brady is really the only bright light in an otherwise dark looking week for Jimmy, whilst Cozy has a stellar looking RB double assault with both ranked in the top 5. WR, TE and Flex are much harder to call one way or the other – and could of course swing it for Jimmy, but the Pit predictor is going for a the quakes to increase their streak.
187s at Pirates
4-5 Kelso 187’s challenge the 3-6 Tweedbank Pirates at Gun Knowe Stadium.
187’s were led in week 9 by a 28.60 point effort from Antonio Brown. Latavius Murray was not injured before the start of his week 9 game, and contributed 7.50points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 10 due to an injured concussion , which might severely limit his fantasy production. Kelso 187’s can expect a 14.66 point effort from Antonio Brown in week 10.
Pirates were led in week 9 by a 36.50 point effort from DeAngelo Williams, Dez Bryant was not injured before the start of his week 9 game, and contributed 16.40points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 10 due to an injured knee , which might severely limit his fantasy production. Tweedbank Pirates can expect a 16.20 point effort from DeAngelo Williams in week 10
Both teams have a bit of a bye week issues- with 3 of each out. The Bengals could be a good bet to finish the job for the Pirates on Monday morning and Euan will want to be a good 18 points up by Sunday night to guarantee the win. Where might he make that happen? its not at RB where scooped up Pirate DeAngelo Williams defied more than one pundit to fill Bell’s boots with some style last week and has guaranteed himself most of the snaps for the rest of the season. WR is a different matter – with Euan perhaps having the best set in the league right now – with 3 receivers in the top 11 this week, that’s some potential for big points, and only 1 of them need have a great game to turn this to Euan’s advantage. However, if Dez is fit for the Pirates those points will be eaten into quite quickly. There’s a few injuries to call later in the week, but if all the probables play – this one’s going to the Pirates.
Fog at Pickaxe
5-4 Fog on the Tyne challenge the 5-4 Nitten Pickaxe at New Victoria Park.
Fog were led in week 9 by a 23.30 point effort from Tyler Eifert. Fog on the Tyne can expect a 16.58 point effort from Joe Flacco in week 10.
This is the first game between these two franchises in 2015, and is sure to be a hard-fought struggle. In the 2-year history of this rivalry, Fog on the Tyne hold a 3-1-0 all-time series record against Nitten Pickaxe.
This one will be close. with both teams struggling for a playoff berth there will be no stone unturned to find that special someone who might sway this game. Pickaxe have had a tough time against the Fog in the last couple of years and coach Gav has a point to prove. Stuart needs this win bad in the level pegging Uhura league though and will be bringing some of that Northern pride when he brings the Fog to the Pickaxe home turf. Theres a Thursday night RB battle with Fog’s LeSean Mccoy vs Pickaxe’s Chris Ivory. If the Bills Jets game gets too one sided, then this game could be just about sealed by monday morning, they are pretty evenly mathced this week – so expect only a 1 TD 6 pt lead Friday Am, whichever way it goes. The rest is Sunday apart for Tyler Eifert who could be the saving grace for the Fog on Monday – he’s not had 2 games on the trot that have gone well, but he has some serious potential as we saw last week. All in all, the Predictor has to go with Pickaxe for this struggle.
Tigers at 69ers
2-7 Tranent Tigers, who hope to end their 5 game losing streak, face off against the 4-5 SanFran-Gordon 69ers at Castle Greyskull.
Tigers were led in week 9 by a 22.20 point effort from Jeremy Langford. Tranent Tigers can expect a 14.44 point effort from Jameis Winston in week 10.
This is the first game between these two franchises in 2015. Richie’s 69ers are Bills heavy ,and should see a wad of points come Friday morning from the DST and Karlos Williams, Bills are the away team though , which has cost around a couple of points to DSTs so far this season. 69ers also have AJ green in action on Monday night, whilst not ‘on fire’ he’s been reliable for a good few points and Nicky will want to be 20 points up to think he’s done enough. Nicky packs it all in on Sunday, at least having the luxury of watching most of the scoring live. Another double top 10 RB team here could do some serious damage to the 69ers dreams, as Richie is still struggling at RB. nicky looks solid if not steallar at WR and TE too, expect that Monday night game to be the clincher, but I think the Tigers will have done enough to seal it.
Panthers at Avengers
7-2 Pilton Panthers face off against the 5-4 Kelsae Avengers at Samuel Sawyer Memorial Park.
Panthers were led in week 9 by a 21.36 point effort from Ben Roethlisberger. Pilton Panthers can expect a 13.48 point effort from DeAndre Hopkins in week 10.
Avengers were led in week 9 by a 15.70 point effort from Sam Bradford. Eddie Lacy was not injured before the start of his week 9 game, and contributed -1.00 points, but he’s listed as questionable in week 10 due to an injured groin , which might severely limit his fantasy production. Kelsae Avengers can expect a 12.36 point effort from Sam Bradford in week 10.
This is the first game between these two franchises in 2015. Avengers looked set for a terrible score from just about the get go last weekend, and a negative score from Lacy must have hurt. Stuart must want to bounce back hard, but that will be tough against the still flying Panthers – out in front in the league by a couple of clear games now, and almost assured of a playoff spot. Rab has to wait all the way till monday night for his projected high scorer – but that has meant nothing all season as his team have fired on all cylinders from the get go. Can that run of yds and tds last till the end of the season? Certainly Rab now has a fairer slice of the injuries pie, which could give Stuart’s Avengers some hope. The rest of the league will want a bit of that Vengeance, not least in Shatner division, where Rab looks a little unstoppable. unfortunately for Stuart the numbers do not add up, he’s a wee advantage at QB, K and DST, but in all the skill positions its Panther’s ready to pounce. The Pit’s heart says Avengers but the head says Panthers, I’ll keep it to myself which I put in the pickem system.
that’s yer lot
